Dr. Chris Loughlin
A specialist in the treatment of ear, nose, throat and head and neck disorders, Dr. Chris Loughlin brings an easygoing manner and personable demeanor to the practice of medicine.
Taking the time to explain his diagnosis and the options available to his patients, Dr. Loughlin is right at home at CT Sinus Center, a full-service facility that offers truly coordinated care between specialists. This continuity of care allows Dr. Loughlin to work in concert with other professionals at CT Sinus Center, providing patients with a one-stop shop and, in many cases, same-day treatment.
Raised in the New Britain, CT area, Dr. Loughlin attended Central Connecticut State University, graduating in 1988 with honors in two majors: biology and economics. He then attended the University of Connecticut Medical School, graduating in 1992.
Dr. Loughlin completed an internship in general surgery at Wake Forest University Medical Center, followed by an otolaryngology residency at Wake Forest, which he finished in 1997.
He was certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology in April, 1998. He spent the majority of his post residency years practicing otolaryngology in Winchester, VA, before moving back to his native Connecticut in 2008. His practice interests include nasal/sinus disorders and allergy, head and neck tumors, thyroid masses, and sleep apnea/snoring surgery.
Dr. Loughlin is married and has three children. He enjoys basketball, rowing, and kayaking.
Dr. Larry Marcus
The newest addition to the CT Sinus Center family, Larry Marcus, MD, MS, FACS specializes in otolaryngology within the head & neck. After graduating from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, Dr. Marcus completed his residency in otolaryngology/head & neck surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. He also holds a master’s degree in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Born in Texas and raised in Nebraska, Dr. Marcus brings a masterful knowledge of remedies for the ears, nose and throats to his patients. Before coming to Connecticut, he practiced medicine in New York, Nebraska, Iowa, Ohio, and Texas. He has received nearly thirty professional appointments and positions throughout the country, in addition to teaching otolaryngology at Creighton University School of Medicine and the University of Texas Medical School. Dr. Marcus also holds several professional associations within his industry, including fellowships with the American Medical Association, American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, American College of Surgeons, Hartford County Medical Association, and the Connecticut State Medical Society.
Dr. Marcus works in all CT Sinus Center locations, and is affiliated with Waterbury Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital (of Waterbury) and Sharon Hospital.
When not providing his patients with leading ear, nose and throat treatments, Dr. Marcus enjoys spending as much time outdoors as he can. An active skier and hiker, Dr. Marcus likes horse racing, traveling, and attending Broadway shows, and loves spending time with his wife and two daughters.
Dr. Martin Spinella
Dr. Martin Spinella is a native of Waterbury, CT, whose personality and approach helps set the tone for CT Sinus Center's "Patient Centered" atmosphere.
Allocating ample time to meet with each patient, Dr. Spinella's goal at the initial appointment is to make a diagnosis, present options, answer any and all patient questions and work with the patient to establish a treatment plan. His explanation often includes graphs, pictorials and handouts, giving the patient a good understanding of the treatment and the goals he or she can expect. Over the years, Dr. Spinella has become known for his caring, conservative approach to patient care.
A graduate of the University of Vermont, Dr. Spinella was awarded his medical degree from the University of Padova and the University of Bologna in Italy. He served his surgical internship at Waterbury Hospital, his Otolaryngology residency at the University of Vermont and holds fellowships with the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. He holds a board certification in Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery.
Dr. Spinella has co-authored several publications and has made numerous presentations before the New England Otolaryngologic Society and the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.
A former chairman of the Otolaryngology Head/Neck Surgery Department and the Laser Surgery Committee at Waterbury Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital, Dr. Spinella regularly attends seminars and conferences on the subject of otolaryngology throughout the nation.
Jaclyn Sylvia, Physician Assistant
Jaclyn Sylvia, our Physician Assistant, is committed to excellence in patient care. She received her bachelor's degree in Health Science and Biology at Quinnipiac University in 2005. She continued on to obtain her Master's degree in Health Science Physician Assistant at Quinnipiac University in 2007.
She has been a practicing licensed medical professional working in otolaryngology and facial plastic surgery for over six years, providing care for both adults and pediatric patients. She is also an active member of the Society of Physician Assistants in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery as well as the American Academy of Physician Assistants, both of which promote growth and development of Physician Assistants in the ENT field.
Jaclyn also acts as a preceptor and mentor for Quinnipiac University Physician Assistant students interested in the otolaryngology field.
